Alternate Ending for Mr. Deeds

Int. Deeds Mansion - Night

An immense party is taking place throughout the house. Decorations are hung from the ceiling with ice sculptures and other accouterment fill the home. It is strictly a black tie affair.

Against the back wall we see him, Longfellow Deeds. Dressed in his casual gray jacket, khakis, and work boots. He is sipping on a beer while Emilio Lopez, his spanish butler, stands next to him. Deeds is crushed, a look of concern on his face. He has finally realized that money doesn't equal happiness. The girl he loved just wanted him for a tabloid story and his new friends he thought he had made just wanted his money. He wishes he was back home, in small time America.

Emilio Lopez: Is everything all right Mr. Deeds?

Deeds: This isn't they way it was supposed to be. I though money had the power to change things, it just ended up changing me. I guess it's just you and me now Lopez

Emilio Lopez (in Brooklyn accent): Yeah, sucks don't it.

Deeds is shocked, looks at Lopez.

Deeds: What happened to your accent?

Emilio Lopez (back to Spanish accent): It comes with the job.

Deeds still a little surprised and confused slowly begins to smile, he understands.

Deeds: Youre all right Lopez, you know that? Youre all right.

The camera pulls back to show the entire party. These two men alone among a sea of white and black. Deeds begins to realize he will live to see another day and that is better than what most men can hope for.

THE END
